This summer, part of the TokenVerse team traveled to New York City to showcase the game at the Games for Change Festival. Over the course of the event, we conducted structured playtests with seven participants from backgrounds including game development, education, and research.

Watching people experience TokenVerse for the first time was one of the most valuable parts of the festival. While players quickly understood the core gameplay loop and enjoyed the interactive moderation tasks, the playtests also highlighted areas where our design could communicate the game's ideas more clearly.

The playtests revealed several usability improvements as well. We identified opportunities to strengthen onboarding, make objectives clearer, improve the visual transition from emoji-based representations to natural language, and better connect the two gameplay modes into a more cohesive learning experience.

These insights are already shaping the next iteration of Chapter One. As development continues, we'll keep refining the game before conducting a larger evaluation of the complete chapter.

Games for Change was an exciting milestone for the project, not only because we were able to share TokenVerse with the public, but because the conversations with players helped us see the game through fresh eyes and define the next steps forward.
